Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero, an American actress and singer is a former model. Her most well-known work is her role in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain as well as being the lead vocalist of Apollonia 6, a girl group. She was one of several female artists that benefited from Prince's collaboration during the 1980s. Born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her work started as a model and actress towards the end of the 1970s including an appearance in the television series CHiPS. In 1984, the actress was a part of the main actress in Prince's Purple Rain. (During this time period, she also changed her surname) She then replaced Vanity from the female trio Vanity 6 who starred in the film alongside Apollonia 6 under their name. She made more of an impact on the charts as Prince's partner in Take Me with You, the duet on his soundtrack. Kotero's association with Prince was ended after the two were at odds over her future career path. Apollonia 6, the group she was part of, split. The actress appeared in several small films, including the sequel to Purple Rain Under the Cherry Moon (which she did not want to be in) as well as landing the part of Falcon Crest on the Night-Time Drama Falcon Crest from 1985-1986. Apollonia could finally make her debut album available in 1988. It failed to leave a lasting impression on music lovers and soon faded from the scene. She stayed active, if not under the spotlight, as an actress during the decade that followed, with a few roles in television and films. An exercise DVD was released. In 1997, Apollonia made a record in English and Spanish entitled Stay with Me. Then, she went back to the college where she earned a filmmaking degree. Then, she started her own production company. Kotero has also been an entrepreneur, and has created Kotero Entertainment an entertainment company that specializes in multimedia entertainment business.
